About Southeast Mechanical
We are an industrial piping and metal fabrication company based in Georgetown, South Carolina. We build, install, and service the systems that keep industrial facilities running. Steel mills, manufacturing plants, and heavy industrial operations are our people, and this is our work.
Where We Started
Joey Olin founded Southeast Mechanical in September 2009 with three people and one clear goal: build a company where skilled tradespeople could have a real career, not just a job.
Nobody handed SEM anything. The reputation came first, and the growth followed. Within months, clients were talking. The quality of the work was different, and people noticed. New capabilities were added, new people were brought on, and the company kept growing organically, the way good companies do by doing the work right and letting that speak for itself.
Sixteen years later, SEM operates out of a 15,000+ square foot facility in Georgetown, SC, with a team of 32 skilled professionals (and quickly growing) and over 10k completed projects. We serve industrial clients across the East Coast and into Central America. The company looks different from how it did in 2009, but the standard has never moved.
Where We Are Headed
SEM is continuing to grow. More capabilities, more clients, more complex work. But growth at SEM has always been earned, not forced. We take on work we can do properly, with the right people and the right equipment to do it right. That is not going to change.
What We Stand For
-
Every job we complete is done to the highest standard possible. Not meeting the minimum. Not getting close enough. Exceeding what the industry or client requires, every single time. If it has our name on it, it has to be right.
-
Safety is not a poster on the wall at SEM. It is the first conversation on every job. All employees complete a minimum of 10 hours of OSHA safety training plus annual refreshers and site specific training before stepping foot on any client facility. We are a proud ISNetworld A-Rated company and we show up compliant before you even have to ask.
-
Our best clients will tell you they do not have to hold our hand. We show up, we assess the situation, we get to work. That self sufficiency is not an accident, it is something we hire for, train for, and hold ourselves to on every single job.
-
We are not the right fit for everyone. We work with clients who take quality seriously and we hire people who do the same. Driven, reliable, always looking to improve. That is who thrives here and that is who is showing up to your facility.
The People Behind the Work
SEM is led by people with real hands on experience in industrial work. This is not a company run from a corner office by people who have never been on a job site.
Joey Olin
OwnerJoey started SEM in 2009 because he believed skilled tradespeople deserved a place built around doing things right. Sixteen years later that belief is still the standard everything else is measured against. He built this company from three people and a reputation for quality work, and that is still exactly what it runs on today.
Operations ManagerBrad Parsons
Brad keeps the day to day running. He oversees scheduling, estimates, employee training, and daily operations to make sure every project has what it needs to come in on time and on quality. The kind of person who has already thought of the problem before you bring it up.
Lauryn Olin
Shop ManagerLauryn runs the shop floor and makes sure daily operations move efficiently from start to finish. She also operates SEM's CNC plasma cutting machines, some of the most precise cutting equipment in the region. If something is coming off that table, it is coming off right.
Stacey Pope
Office ManagerStacey handles the business side of SEM including payroll, material ordering, quotes, and the financial backbone of the entire operation. The kind of person who makes sure everything is exactly where it needs to be so the rest of the team can focus on the work.
Who Thrives Here
SEM is built on a culture of hard work, teamwork, and pride in the craft. The people who do well here are the ones who hold themselves to a high standard without being told to, who take ownership of their work, and who show up every day ready to be better than they were yesterday.
We are a team of skilled tradespeople who care about what leaves this shop. If that sounds like your kind of place, we would like to talk to you.
